Mayor of Cromer and MP work up a sweat at the opening of new Cromer Academy Gym
Backwww.everyoneactive.com/centre/cromer-academy-gym/The Mayor of Cromer and MP for North Norfolk worked up a sweat at the opening ceremony for Cromer’s new gym. They were joined by Cromer Academy students and Principal, Antony Little.
Duncan Baker, MP for North Norfolk and Richard Leeds, the Mayor of Cromer, took on a rowing challenge and tried out the state-of-the-art fitness equipment.
Duncan Baker, MP for North Norfolk, said: "I think the gym is going to do two things, it's fantastic for after school for the students and it’s fantastic for the community. With all this brand new equipment and beautiful building, it’s a pleasure to be a part of it.
"Cromer Academy is a brilliant school - its results are absolutely fantastic. The Headmaster has done an admirable job with the rest of his team.”
The Mayor of Cromer, Councillor Richard Leeds, said: “I think this is an amazing space for both the school and the Cromer community – it is just what Cromer needs. There’s not a lot of places like this available, so it’s great that the school could be so instrumental in pushing sports forward.”
Antony Little, Principal of Cromer Academy said: "We’ve got a fantastic PE department here which has been really instrumental in pushing sport with young people.
“The more we can offer students, the more they will keep getting involved - not just in school, but for the rest of their lives. The kids at Cromer deserve this kind of facility and we are really proud of what we’ve done here at the school.”
The gym is run by Everyone Active and based at Cromer Academy. It will be open to both students and the community. It offers members a 44-station fitness suite, including weights, running machines, rowing machines, open work-out areas and other professional gym equipment. There is car parking and bike space available for members.
Stuart Jardine, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said: “We’re a community-focused organisation that aims to offer inclusive environments for all ages and abilities, so we’re thrilled to have partnered with Cromer Academy.
“We hope that the new gym will inspire both students and residents to look after their health and keep fit within a fun and engaging environment that welcomes everybody.”
Membership for the Cromer Academy Gym is £19.99 per month for the community. Multi-gym membership costs £39 per month and members can use any of Everyone Active’s gyms and swimming pools. Children and staff at Cromer Academy can access the gym for £15 per month.
