Thanks to partnerships with prestigious providers, students of Cromer Academy have access to top class facilities, free of charge, or at a discounted rate.

Royal Cromer Golf Club, with its stunning clifftop setting, is ranked in the top 100 courses in England and one of only 66 ‘royal’ clubs in the world.

The academy’s students are offered four free weekend coaching sessions with the club’s PGA golf professionals, Lee Patterson and Mitch Smith. Pupils wishing to continue with sessions are offered reduced coaching fees for a further six weeks and discounted membership, or free for those in receipt of Pupil Premium.

Pupils showing commitment to the sport could receive a scholarship, offering them free coaching, membership and equipment.

Students are also benefiting from the short walk to the town’s stunning seafront, with after-school surf and paddleboarding lessons with Cromer Glide Surf School, accredited by Surfing England.

Both staff and students of the academy can enjoy exclusive discounts on lessons and in the shop. The academy is also one of only three schools in Norfolk to be offered free places on the North Sea Swell mental health and wellbeing project funded by the Family Hub Fund, Norfolk. This pilot is based on the award-winning Wave Project in the Southwest. Using ‘surf therapy’, an evidence-based programme, which enables children and young people to build confidence and overcome anxiety barriers through surfing.

On to racquet sports — Cromer Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, located next door to Cromer Academy, works closely with the school, offering pupils and staff exclusive free taster coaching sessions for tennis, squash, pickleball and table tennis. Due to the proximity to the school, pupils already benefit from the use of the professional grass courts and professional coaching as part of their PE lessons. Thanks to funding from Active Norfolk, coaches from the club deliver pickleball sessions as part of the after-school extracurricular programme.
